The AACC is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the cultural fabric of Airdrie. Our mission is to empower artists, arts organizations, and cultural programmers by providing resources, advocacy, and opportunities for collaboration. We aim to make arts and culture accessible to everyone, creating a sense of belonging and pride in our community.
Why an Arts and Culture Council?
In response to the need for a dedicated body to support local arts, the Airdrie City Council established the Arts and Culture Assessment Committee (ACAC) in April 2022. This committee, comprising local artists, cultural programmers, and experts, created a framework for the AACC. The ACAC identified gaps in funding, collaboration, and resources through extensive research and community engagement. The AACC addresses these challenges, providing a stable foundation and strategic direction for arts and culture in Airdrie.
Our First Steps
Our immediate priorities are forming the AACC as an independent society, hiring an Executive Director, and developing a comprehensive business plan for the upcoming years. We will also create a robust online presence to promote events and connect the community with arts and culture resources. These foundational steps are essential for our long-term success and sustainability.
